Over - Estimation : Human Fallacy or a Beneficial Phenomena.

From the starting of time or from the starting of time for ourselves, we had this innate ability to make everything about ourselves. Any statement that questions the true nature and does not coincide with our belief system : that somehow we humans as a collective are special or deserves to be special ; has to be absurd. Everything around us is ours to exploit. Copernicus was the first person to formulate a model in which sun was the center of our universe rather than our Earth. He was condemned to death by priests but died due to natural causes. This is just a single incidence in our long standing history in which any viewpoint differing from the belief of mass was ostracized or condemned to death. But what is the reason for this pattern which has been repeated umpteenth times.

The reason is simple, we are right and even if we were somehow wrong, we were just about right. Everything we do has got to be right or special. The world itself is nothing without us, if I wouldn't have existed neither this world would have existed. There a reason this universe is observable, because we are here to observe it. We see the world through our own eyes for as long as we live. But it's not all bad, overestimating our worth might be the reason we are ruling this earth rather than any other animal because if it would have been survival of the fittest, we humans might be extinct. We are here ruling every corner of the world, inhabiting the uninhabitable continent like Antarctica because we believed we could because we believed we deserve to be the best hunter and should roam freely on the land without the fear any carnivores. So we did it.

This is all about outward or per se about whole human community. But as an individual we all see the glimpses of this.

We all have dreamt about being supremely talented, somehow special : different from others in such a way that we should outshine them, rich, fast learner. But then reality gives us a harsh check and all of these turns into just an unattainable impossible fantasy. Which we lock in the backroom of our mind and heave a sigh. Daniel Kahneman showed that in a relationship every person overestimated the times they did a certain chore, Giving reason that we only remember the times we did the chore and underestimated the times when our significant other did it.

So whether overestimating ourselves is a human fallacy or beneficial phenomena.

That's for readers to decide. Because ultimately we all will overestimate our viewpoint.
